10 days until Christmas
10 days!
Cindy lives in Utah with her high school sweetheart turned hubby of 25 years and two of her four kids. (The other two are still around, they just no longer live at home) She is the author of the new release from Sweetwater, Geek Girl, a contemporary young adult novel, as well as Heart on a Chain and Immortal Mine. When not at her keyboard–which is rare–she can be found either reading, resting, or riding her Harley. Those are her “three R’s”. She feels very blessed and grateful for the opportunities life has afforded her so far.

LDSWBR: What Christmas-related activity would you like to do this year that you have never done before?
CINDY: This year I would like to stay home and not have to go anywhere for the whole day. I would like to have all of my extended family come to my house where I can feed them, give them gifts, and share in the holiday spirit without the usual hurry and open gifts, grab whatever food you’ve made and run to grandmas, run home to pick up more food, go to the next grandmas, get home and be exhausted from all the running around. I just think it would be relaxing and keep me in the right frame of mind if I weren’t so stressed about getting places on time. I’d like to try it once, anyway.
LDSWBR: If you could find one book under the tree this year, what would it be?
CINDY: Anything antique. I love old antique books that are faded, yellowed, and cracked – especially if it has pictures or drawings in it.
LDSWBR: What is your favorite childhood Christmas memory?
CINDY: My favorite memory is every year going to the Christmas tree place to pick out the perfect tree. It had to be full with lots of bushy branches. Then we’d wait while they flocked it, and return home with this amazing, pure white tree that looked like it had been snowed on, where we then decorated it while listening to Christmas music with a fire in the fireplace.
LDSWBR: Thank you, Cindy. Have a great Christmas!

We always go to my parents house first thing in the morning, and then usually go to the hubby’s a few hours later. :)
For Christmas, my husband and I would LOVE to just stay put in our own cozy little home. This is our goal. But this Christmas will be our third, and we’ve only been sort of able to achieve this goal. This first year my mother-in-law and siblings-in-law came to visit just before Christmas, the next year we traveled to VA with our new baby to visit my folks, and this year one of my sisters-in-law is getting married just after Christmas so we’ve got to travel to Washington state on the 26th. oh well! NEXT year we are definitely staying put for the holiday season!

+3!
On Christmas we have usually done a bit of both. Usually my parents come before Christmas and we end up having an extra Christmas. My husband’s parents come on Christmas. And in years past we have gone to visit my husband’s grandmother, but she died last year, so we won’t be doing that this year. :(
I am the opposite of Cindy in that I don’t like old books. I don’t like how they are dirty, dusty, and usually smell.

We live too far away from family to visit — it’s usually just our family at home all day. And I’ve decided I really like it that way, even though we miss living close to family.
We visit family for Christmas (Eve), although the longer we’ve been married and the older our kids get, the less time we spend away from home. The last few years I’ve invited family to our house on Christmas day for brunch. It’s a fun new tradition that I hope we can keep up for a long time.

Christmas morning we stay home and enjoy our own family. Then in the afternoon we go and visit grandparents and great-grandparents. It would be heavenly to be able to just stay home the whole day and have grandparents visit at our home. Maybe next year we can make that happen :)

All of my siblings live in the same state so my parents drive to where we live. Then we switch off every year, either my house or one of the sibling’s homes. My husband’s parents live out of the country so we can’t visit them each Christmas. We are planning to go next December though.
I read the first ten chapters of geek girl available on cindy bennett’s blog and it is beyond amazing..such a fun read
We go to my in-laws for Christmas Eve, and stay home on Christmas and relax and enjoy the day with our kids!

We used to visit family or be visited by family, but now that we have more children we’ve been doing our own thing solo.
Left a comment on Mindy’s review– thanks!
My husband and I both have parents that live an hour’s drive from our home. We’ve always seen both sides of the family at Christmas time. This year we will visit my husband’s mother on Christmas Eve (tomorrow night) and my parents on Christmas Day. We’ve never entertained at our home at Christmas night. The closest I’ve home is hosting book group at my house on December 3rd. It was good motivation to get the decorations up early in the month.
