LDSWBR: Do you find it easier or more difficult to write during the summertime? Why?

HEATHER: It’s much harder for me to write in the summer with all four kids home, coming and going. I’ve only actively written one book during a summer (AMMON) because of the deadline. But I have been known to try and finish a book in May, then I’m fine to do editing during the summer since it can be done more sporadically.

LDSWBR: Would you rather be in the pool or next to the pool?

HEATHER: NEXT to the pool for sure. Unless it’s just too darn hot. With my youngest child now eight, I get to enjoy a bit of luxury. Not that I don’t enjoy playing in the pool with my kids, but I really really don’t like getting splashed in the face.

LDSWBR: Ice cream or slushie? What flavor?

HEATHER: Slushie–because something in my head tells me that they have less calories. Yet, the other voice in my head says that ice cream is probably, more technically, healthier. So it probably boils down to what mood I’m in!

LDSWBR: Thanks, Heather!

Daughters of Jared by H.B. Moore
Available in paperback or for Kindle on AMAZON

Naiva, daughter of the dethroned King Jared II, lives in the shadow of her privileged elder sister, Asherah. But when Asherah develops a secret plot to return their father to the throne, Naiva’s resentment turns to fear. Thwarting the scheme becomes more complicated when Naiva discovers that Akish, the first man who has shown interest in her, is an integral part of the plan.

Asherah traps Akish in a ploy to make him marry her, breaking Naiva’s heart and leaving her feeling more alone than ever. Somehow Naiva must find the strength to stand against the encroaching evil in the kingdom and a sister who will stop at nothing to become queen. When Akish’s wickedness escalates and threatens to destroy the bonds of sisterhood, Naiva must decide between protecting her sister and honoring her new belief in the true God—a forbidden belief that could cost her life.

  7. I’ve loved all of Heather’s books that I’ve read so far (actually listened to the audiobooks, which were great!) and am excited to add this one to my list. She really brings the Book of Mormon stories to life.

  8. I’ve heard good things about the Daughters of Jared books. Oh, and ice cream milkshakes all the way. :)

  9. I read and reviewed Daughters of Jared and I can tell you it was awesome. Heather has such a great writing style and is able to weave fact with fiction so well!

  10. I have never read any LDS Book of Mormon time fiction books before, but now after hearing all of the praise for this author I will definitely look up this book.

  11. This is the only book of Heather’s that I haven’t read yet. I can’t wait to get my hands on it. Heather’s books bring Book of Mormon times to life for me. Her stories keep me hanging on while I learn so much about what life might have been like at that time. When I go back to the scriptures I have so much more to think about. Thank you Heather!!!!

  12. Wow, this book sounds great. I hope I win it! Thanks, gals.

  13. This book is on my wishlist on Amazon. Since my birthday is coming up and I keep dropping hints – I hope to be receiving this before too long If not I will treat myself to a hot fudge sundae and a new book!

  14. Summers with four kids…yes, that would be very hard to find time to write, if your kids are anything like mine–busy, busy, busy. This book looks very intriguing.

  15. This book was so good (just like all the rest of Heather’s books!)

  16. From the description, this book really appeals to me. It is always interesting to me to see how others interpret society in ancient civilizations.

  17. I love when authors bring another dimension to Book of Mormon stories. I realize that this story is ficiton but it allows the reader to think about what life was like for the people of Book of Mormon times who were not mentioned by name. This book looks really good and I’m excited to check it out.

  18. My sister just recommended H.B. Moore’s books to me, so I’m excited to read them – especially now that I feel I know Heather a little bit!

  19. Wow–the blurb has me on the edge of my seat. It’s interesting to see one person’s idea of what might have gone on behind a story I already know the major elements of.

  20. Reading fictional stories set in scriptural times always help makes scriptures more “real life” to me. It’s easier to imagine what life was like and what people did back then.
