Julianne Donaldson grew up as the daughter of a U.S. Air Force fighter pilot. She learned how to ski in the Italian Alps, visited East Berlin before the wall came down, and spent three years living next to a 500-year-old castle. After earning a degree in English, she turned her attention to writing about distant times and places. She lives in Utah with her husband and four children.

LDSWBR: Do you find it easier or more difficult to write during the summertime? Why?
JULIANNE: It is always hard to find time to write. Summer is crazier for me because my house turns into the gathering place for half the kids in the neighborhood, and there is never a quiet moment from dawn til dusk. I definitely look forward to the structure of the school year and the earlier bed times that come with it.
LDSWBR: Would you rather be in the pool or next to the pool?
JULIANNE: If it’s hot, get me in the pool. If there’s a nice breeze, stick me in the shade with a good book and I’m happy as can be.
LDSWBR: Ice cream or slushie? What flavor?
JULIANNE: Mmmm…they both sound good right now. I vote berry slushie on a hot afternoon; chocolate nutty ice cream at night.
LDSWBR: Thanks, Julianne!

Marianne Daventry will do anything to escape the boredom of Bath and the amorous attentions of an unwanted suitor. So when an invitation arrives from her twin sister, Cecily, to join her at a sprawling country estate, she jumps at the chance. Thinking she’ll be able to relax and enjoy her beloved English countryside while her sister snags the handsome heir of Edenbrooke, Marianne finds that even the best laid plans can go awry. From a terrifying run-in with a highwayman to a seemingly harmless flirtation, Marianne finds herself embroiled in an unexpected adventure filled with enough romance and intrigue to keep her mind racing. Will Marianne be able to rein in her traitorous heart, or will a mysterious stranger sweep her off her feet? Fate had something other than a relaxing summer in mind when it sent Marianne to Edenbrooke.

I loved this book!!! I’m sure summer makes for complete chaos to try and write. I know my house is sure crazy right now.
Oooo I love books from this era. This sounds like a really cute romance. A must-read for me. Thanks!
I loved this book! It was amazing!
This was a fantastic book. I loved it and both of my teenage daughters loved it. One of them is on her second reading. Thanks Julianne, for such a great period romance. Is there anything we can do to get this made into a movie?
This book is probably my favorite book that I’ve read so far this year! It was amazing!
I’ve been hearing nothing but raving approval of this book. Seriously, a neighbor who never tells me about the books she reads went out of her way to bring this one to my attention.
I’ve been hearing nothing but rave reviews about this book. Seriously, a neighbor who never tells me about what books she reads pulled me aside to tell me about this one!
I absolutly loved this book and would love to win it. It left me laughing and yelling at the characters!! Such a spunky female lead coupled with a good looking, intelligent, smooth male lead was absolutly spectacular!! I would love to find a place that looks like the descriptions in this book!
I just read this and it is WONDERFUL! I can’t wait for more from Julianne!
I love the cover! Looking forward to reading this book! I like how Julianne is so versatile with her frozen treat choices! :o)
Loved, loved this book! One of my new favorites — I hope Julianne writes many more!
I completely agree: Edenbrooke was one of the most romantic books I have read in a long time and I absolutely loved it. Thank you, thank you, Julianne!!
I just bought Edenbrooke and I can’t wait to read it! It’s been a long time since I heard so much positive word of mouth about a debut.
Well after all of those positive comments I really need to get my hands on this book. I have not read a period piece for awhile so it will be a refreshing change for me. Now, if I could just find time to read all of these books.
I agree with Julianne’s pool assessment; I love to swim, but I love reading in the shade by the water, too!
I really enjoyed this book – especially the grandmother who talked tough but loved Marianne and admired her independence.
One of my all time Regency novels!
