LDSWBR: What books do you plan/hope to read this summer?
JESSICA: Let’s see . . . Currently reading THE FIFTH WAVE by Rick Yancey. Next up: WARM BODIES by Isaac Marion (loved the movie!), ANNA AND THE FRENCH KISS by Stephanie Perkins, BLOOD MOON and BLOOD PROPHECY by Alyxandra Harvey, IN DARKNESS by Nick Lake, DAYS OF BLOOD AND STARLIGHT by Laini Taylor, THE SPARROW by Mary Doria Russell, ALL THINGS BRIGHT AND BEAUTIFUL by James Herriot, and ANATHEM by Neal Stephenson, A WALK IN THE WOODS by Bill Bryson, SUPERNATURALLY by Kiersten White . . . And that’s just for starters!
LDSWBR: Did you ever go to summer camp, and/or what is your most memorable camping experience?
JESSICA: I went to LDS girl’s camp for three years as a teen. I declined the fourth year, because you even had to pack your own toilet paper and carry everything with you. (And, according to rumor, carry it all back out, too. Yes. The toilet paper, too.) Yeah, not something that sounded fun. One year my friend Rebecca and I went to 4-H camp, which was held in nice cabins at this cool camp and sounded amazing. I’m sure it was fine, but all I remember, though, is that for inspections we tried to mop our cabin floor by squirting it with water from someone’s contraband Super Soaker, and it just made mud. Our counselor started crying. We did not win the cleanest cabin award.
LDSWBR: If you could have a summer home anywhere in the world, where would it be?
JESSICA: Somewhere on a fjord in Norway. (Of course!)
LDSWBR: Thank you so much, Jessica! I just gave my niece WEDNESDAYS for her birthday since I gave her TUESDAYS last year. She was very excited, and I found out she’s read TUESDAYS four times. I need to bring her to your next signing so you can autograph her books. :)

A castle that is constantly rearranging itself, and a young royal family sworn to protect it… Celie, Rolf, and their beloved Castle Glower are back in this exciting sequel.
Strange things are afoot in Castle Glower: new rooms, corridors, and even stables keep arriving, even when they aren’t needed. Celie’s brother Bran, the new Royal Wizard, has his hands full cataloguing an entire storeroom full of exotic and highly dangerous weapons, while Celie has her hands full . . . raising the creature that hatches from a giant egg she finds! Will they be able to find out what’s making the Castle behave this way in time?
Have you read any of the books on Jessica’s summer reading list? OR, have you ever been to Norway?

The only one I’ve read is All Things Bright and Beautiful (years ago)! I’ll have to check the other ones out! And no, I have never been to Norway. It looks beautiful though.
That list is getting awesome. Jessica write the funnest books. I haven’t been to Norway, but it gets crazy cold there. One reason my youngest son wants to move there. He hates the heat. Star Wars Episode 5 with the ice planet Hoth was filmed in Norway. Brrrr
I’ve read All Things Bright and Beautiful, and I loved it. Never been to Norway.
I have never been to Norway, but my father in law served his mission there. It seems like a fascinating place.
I love Jessica’s books. “Dragon Slippers” is a popular one in my classroom, and I personally love that series. I have not been to Norway but my ancestors are from there and I would like to visit at some point. I have read “A Walk in the Woods” by Bill Bryson. He is a fun author and I liked his description.
Nope, I haven’t read any of the books on her list. I do love her books, though. I have never been to Norway.
I have read Supernaturally, and it’s AMAZING! I would like to go to Norway someday! :)
I read All Things Bright and Beautiful years ago and it still remains one of my absolute favorites. I think Norway would be an interesting trip… Maybe next year…
I’ve only read All Things Bright and Beautiful, but it’s been years!! I should read it again.
We just got Wednesdays in the Tower (after loving Tuesdays in the Castle) and my girls and I can’t wait to read it! I’ve read a few of the books on Jessica’s list (Anna and the French Kiss, Days of Blood and Starlight, Supernaturally) and am not familiar with some of the others, so I will have to check them out!
I really want to read The 5th Wave too! And I love Jessica’s books btw. : )
I have been to Norway and it was a wonderful 2 weeks! It was summer, so you had to wear a sleep mask since it was light most of the night. It had a really festive, fun atmosphere. Absolutely beautiful country. And I still miss the waffles with goat cheese!
I haven’t read any of the books on her list, although I have Wednesdays in the Tower hope to read it this summer.
I love finding more books that I can read with my kids and not have to think twice about recommending to anyone! I read Tuesdays at the Castle and really enjoyed it.
I read Anna and the French Kiss a few months ago and absolutely loved it!
My daughter loved these 2 books. I have been to Norway, but I was about 8 years old. I don’t remember too much. And, the only book on Jessica’s list I’ve read is Anna and the French Kiss. I loved it!
I have seen the movie warm bodies but have not read any of the books on her list. I look forward to reading though as she has great taste (I follow her blog) I have also never been to Norway but it would be great!
Not yet, but I have a lot of the same books on my to read list. BTW, Wednesdays in the Tower is a fantastic book! I loved it!
Her list is all new for me. I have heard great things about her book though. I would LOVE to go to Norway!
Cruised the fjords of Norway on a cruise and it was AMAZINGLY beautiful!
I have not been to Norway, but I would love to go. I have read “All Thing Bright and Beautiful” and thought it was great! Herriot does a great job with his books and stories. I also read “Anna and the French Kiss” and while there were things about it that I enjoyed, there was some language and suggestive content that I didn’t care for, so it wasn’t my favorite. I thought that “Tuesdays at the Castle” was a great book and I can’t wait to read Wednesdays! :)
