LDSWBR: What books do you plan/hope to read this summer?
NANCY: I am currently reading “The Girl in the Steel Corset” by Kady Cross, and I will also be reading “To Kill a Mockingbird” with my bookclub. Complete extremes!
LDSWBR: Did you ever go to summer camp, and/or what is your most memorable camping experience?
NANCY: I attended girls camp each year from 12 to 18 and I have so many fun memories–they all run together in my mind. I suppose my most memorable would be the summer I accidentally threw my retainer into the fire–I had taken it out to eat s’mores because, come on, you don’t want that stuck to your retainer–and I wrapped it up in a napkin. When I was all done, I threw my napkins and paper plates into the fire and then FREAKED OUT. My parents were, thankfully, not angry enough to kill me.
LDSWBR: If you could have a summer home anywhere in the world, where would it be?
JESSICA: I would have a summer home in Martha’s Vineyard, or somewhere along the North Atlantic coast. YUM.
LDSWBR: Thank you, Nancy!

The sun burns brightly over the ancient isle of Greece as former Pinkerton spy Isabelle Webb returns for her most rousing adventure yet. Legend has it that the location of a fantastic treasure is revealed only when three mystical jewels are united. In an effort to locate the elusive trove and the power it promises, shadowy organizations and greedy men have tirelessly pursued the three hidden stones for centuries. Isabelle and her trusted companions — including her dashing fianceé, James Ashby — are in possession of one of these legendary jewels, while nefarious treasure hunter Thaddeus Sparks retains another. The third stone, the Jewel of Hades, is rumored to be concealed on the rocky shores of Greece. As good and evil converge on this fiery island, the final battle for possession of the jewels — and their anciently protected secret — begins. When events take a deadly turn, Isabelle must rely on her keen instincts and indomitable spirit as dastardly forces threaten to make her first Greek expedition her last.
Have you ever accidentally thrown something in the fire or garbage?

I’ve accidentally thrown away silverware before….but they were recovered!
Our dvd remote. We didn’t realize it until it was too late. : (
I accidentally threw my headgear away when I was a teenager-it went into the massive garbage bag at a ward picnic. My mom made me take the bag home and go through it until I found the missing headgear. Kind of traumatic.
I haven’t, but I did throw my retainer into the corner of my closet one time when I was sleeping and didn’t find it for a couple of days. I love the cover of this book!
I also threw away my retainer once at work. But the custodian came by before I realized it and took my classroom trash to the trash bin outside. Luckily, the head custodian had no problem putting on his boots and climbing into the bin to find my classroom trash bag. We found it in there and all was well because it was just surrounded by old homework papers. But I don’t think that I could have climbed into the bin myself to do all that!
One time I threw away my contacts. I put them in their cases, but I had forgotten to look at the prescription to see which eye they were supposed to have gone in. I was kinda mad, so I threw them away before I thought it through. All I needed to do was try them in my eyes and I would have been able to tell where they went! Ooops. :)
I’ve accidentally thrown things away before, although nothing that makes a great story. When my kids were little plenty of things were lost in the garbage-like half the alphabet to a fridge magnet game.
I am sure I have, but I can’t remember right now. However, my 4 year old lately has been throwing the mail in the recycle. What?!?! He says me toss a lot of junk mail so he automatically assumed all mail was trash. Oops ;) !!
My husband tells the story of how his sister got a doll one year for Christmas but the doll had disappeared the next day and was nowhere to be found. Their best guess was that it had been scooped up and thrown out with all the wrapping paper.
I throw my kids plates in the garbage all the time! Then I get to go fishing through the trash for them.
I had to dig my keys out of a huge garbage can when I was in college…..that was fun…..
My daughter accidentally threw her retainer away while at Girl’s Camp and luckily our ward had to bring home all their garbage bags so as a family, we dug through all the garbage to find it. (And we sterilized it even though it was still in the napkin. Ew!) We still tease her about that!
Last Christmas I threw away a few packages that I’d meant to cut the upc labels from for some mail in rebates. I was determined enough to get the rebates that I went outside and dug through the trash until I found them . :-)
I don’t remember ever throwing something important away. I guess I’m lucky in that. However, I have misplaced many things.
I have accidentally thrown away a school paper but luckily I was able to recover a copy from my computer and turn it in late. This book looks great!!
My husband once threw away his Social Security Card. He couldn’t even get it back. He had to order a new one!
I haven’t thrown away anything by accident, but I have thrown away a couple of weight loss books and then when I decided I really did want them my wonderful husband bought them for me again :)
I can’t remember ever burning something by accident around the camp fire. Usually anything that I throw in the fire is pretty intentional. I think that everyone has accidentally thrown something away, but I must have moved past any trauma, because nothing has come to mind. Instead of throwing away their retainers, my kids just put them in their cases and forget to wear them. Grr. :)
