Dec 272013

At the beginning of the year I set a goal to read 100 books. Since I hit 102 books read in 2012, I figured I could easily do that again, especially with all of my kids in school at least part of the time. Ha! I really thought I would have more time when my kids got older. Joke’s on me, I guess. :)

I have nine more books to read before New Year’s Day to meet my goal. I think I’ll tackle the 39 Clues series. They’re pretty quick reads, right? Wish me luck!

In no particular order, here are my favorite reads of 2013:

I enjoyed so many more books than are listed here. Check out my Goodreads shelf to see more of them.

Have you read any of my favorites from 2013? Do you have any recommendations for me for 2014?

  1. Wow, I haven’t read any of your favorites listed here. I’m like you though, and still have about 5 books to read to hit my 100 for this year. Let’s get reading!! :o)

  2. If you haven’t read The Others yet by Kristin Bryant please put it on your list. She is a new LDS author and her book is getting rave reviews. Her book is a real page turner and I can promise you are not going to want to put it down until you are finished. I can’t wait for the sequel!

    • It sounds fantastic and absolutely up my alley. I’ve added it to my “read-soon” shelf. Thanks, Karen!

  3. […] Shanda Cottam (LDSBR)’s favorite reads of 2013. No particular order: The Runaway King by Jennifer A. Nielsen, Longing For Home by Sarah M. Eden, Blackmoore by Julianne Donaldson, The Witnesses by Stephanie Black, The Rent Collector by Camron Wright, Fairy Godmothers, Inc. by Jenniffer Wardell. […]

  4. I have some of the same favorites! I will add some of yours to my to-read list. I also had My Own Mr. Darcy by Karey White, Scarlet by Marissa Meyer and more.

  5. I snuck in a Boxcar Children book at the end of the year, just to bulk up my numbers :) Still didn’t reach my goal of reading 200 books a year, but that’s okay — I’ll just roll it over for 2014.

I’m glad to see THE RENT COLLECTOR and LONGING FOR HOME on your favorites list — I enjoyed both.

    Happy New Year, Shanda!
