4 days until the
first day of summer!
Gale Sears is an award-winning author, known for her historical accuracy and intensive research. Gale received a BA in playwriting from Brigham Young University and a master’s degree in theater arts from the University of Minnesota. She is the author of Christmas for a Dollar, The Route, Autumn Sky, Until the Dawn, and Upon the Mountains. She and her husband, George, are the parents of two children and reside in Sandy, Utah.
Visit Gale on her website: www.galesears.com and her blog: Stories Around the Kamp Fire.
LDSWBR: What activities do you and/or your family participate in every summer? Do you have plans to try something or go somewhere new this year?
GALE: We have a little cabin where we try and spend as much time as possible during the summer. George and I also try and grow a garden (try is the operative word).
My birthday is July 24th and I think we’re celebrating by taking a non- strenuous hike to some beautiful Utah mountain spot.
LDSWBR: Do you have a favorite summer food or drink? If so, are you willing to share the recipe?
GALE: I love grilling in the summer! No recipes. No fuss. Less clean up. My kind of cooking!
LDSWBR: What books are on your summer reading list?
GALE: Life and Death in Shanghai, Secret Sisters, The Federalist Papers (hahaha), The Essential Lewis and Clark, the newest Sue Grafton mystery.
LDSWBR: Thank you, Gale!
The Silence of God by Gale Sears (Deseret Book; June 2010) is available for purchase at Deseret Book, Seagull Book and Amazon.
Do you have a favorite hiking trail? If so, why is it your favorite? If not, where is your favorite place to reconnect with nature?

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
I'd love to pick up one of Gales books! They sound great.
I don't really have a favorite hiking trail, but I do like to go biking on a trail near my house. It goes through several cities, and it's just nice to ride and get everything off my mind for a while.
I'd love one too :)
I think that any hiking trail that you can be with nature and apart from other things is the best.
I use to love hiking, now my haelth problems are getting in the way of that. My favorite hiking trails are all the National Parks here in Utah.
Last year we went to Capitol Reef National Park here in Utah. It is a smaller park, but we hiked some of the most amazing trails! I love Yosemite and Yellowstone. I also enjoy the trails in Northern Oregon along the Columbia River Gorge because it is so green there.
I don't have a favorite hiking trail, but I absolutely love to go camping up in Island Park in Idaho by Yellowstone National Park :)
We have one close to home that's about a mile to a raging waterfall. The kids like it because they can get wet from the spray, I like it because I'm out of shape and the hike is easy :)
