20 days until summer!
LDS Women’s Book Review is excited to kick off our Countdown to Summer 2011. We can’t wait to introduce you to several talented authors with some amazing summer reads. You could win a $50 Amazon gift card as well as several books donated by the authors. See details below!
Karey White was born in Provo, Utah. As the oldest of eleven children, her life has been full of useful and often ridiculous experiences. She attended Ricks College and Brigham Young University.
She endures housework; enjoys traveling, reading, and baking treats; and loves spending time with family and friends. She lives in Cedar Hills, Utah, with her husband, Travis, and their four wonderful children. She is currently working on her next book. Find out more about Karey at kareywhite.blogspot.com.

LDSWBR: If you had an entire day to read (on the beach, at the lake, by the pool, etc.), what book(s) or genre would you reach for first?
KAREY: A clean romance.
LDSWBR: What book(s) do you look forward to reading the most this summer?
KAREY: Jane’s Fame: How Jane Austen Conquered the World, by Claire Harmon; Our Culture, What’s Left of It, by Theodore Dalrymple; Water for Elephants, by Sarah Gruen
LDSWBR: How would you describe the perfect summer day?
KAREY: Floating in the Lazy River for a few hours, reading for a few hours and eating a toasted BLT and Rocky Road milkshake. Oh, and a nice movie in a cool theater would be nice. I’d like to do all of these things with my family.
LDSWBR: Thank you, Karey. Have a great summer and enjoy the Lazy River!
Gifted by Karey White (Cedar Fort, Inc; February 2011) is available for purchase on the Gifted website, Amazon, Deseret Book, Barnes & Noble, and cedarfort.com.

I love the cover for Gifted — it looks like a great story! And I would reach for a clean romance first too. I think I’ve only been in one “Lazy River” (if I’m thinking of the right term) — it was part of a local college pool area and was too crowded and too small for my liking.
Gifted is great. The perfect summer read as it will make you laugh and cry in one sitting! Can’t wait for your next book, Karey!
LOVED this book – it would be the perfect book to read on a “lazy river” :)
And I too can’t wait to read your next book, Karey!
What an awesome giveaway!! I love when Book Blogs interview the authors. Its always interesting to see what authors like to read.
A summer day by the water with family and a book sounds like a perfect day to me too.
I love Karey’s book, Gifted!! My hubby is now even reading it and enjoying it. The cover is beautiful too! What a pleasant surprise to find out she is my brother’s neighbor!! :o)
I haven’t been in a lazy river forever. It does sound nice though. As long as it’s not crowded full of people. Looking forward to reading Gifted!
I looked up the information on this book and now I want to read it so bad, I think adoption is such an important topic. I enjoy our local pool and the little lazy river they have there. I have a double raft where I put my 2 year old in one side and I relax on the other side as we go around the river.
