10 days until summer!

Rebecca Talley grew up in Santa Barbara, CA. She attended, and graduated from, BYU where she met and married her sweetheart, Del. They are the parents of ten wildly-creative, multi-talented children. Rebecca now lives in rural CO with her family, a dog, numerous cats, a herd of goats, and a spoiled horse. When she isn’t writing, Rebecca enjoys dating her husband, playing with her kids, swimming in the ocean, and dancing to disco music while she cleans the house.

LDSWBR: If you had an entire day to read (on the beach, at the lake, by the pool, etc.), what book(s) or genre would you reach for first?

REBECCA: A clean romance. I love to get lost in a fun romance especially on a summer day.

LDSWBR: What book(s) do you look forward to reading the most this summer?

REBECCA: That’s a very hard question–there are so many books and so little time! I want to finish Paranormalcy and The Hero with a Thousand Faces. I also want to read Gregg Luke’s new novel due out in August.

LDSWBR: How would you describe the perfect summer day?

REBECCA: A perfect summer day to me is sitting on the beach watching my kids play in the waves and making sand castles. I love the smell of the sea water and suntan lotion and feeling the sun bathe me in warmth while listening to my kids laughing and splashing in the water. And to top it off, eating taquitos with guacamole followed by chewing green apple bubble gum.

LDSWBR: Thank you, Rebecca!

The Upside of Down by Rebecca Talley (Bonneville/Cedar Fort; January 2011) is available for purchase from Amazon.

Have you been to the beach? If so, do you have a favorite beach you love to visit?

  1. We only go to the beach when we visit family in San Diego (and we always go to La Jolla Shores Beach). I enjoy the ocean but I’ve decided I’m really not a beach fan — too much sand that ends up in too many places where you don’t want it! :-)

  2. Oh…I LOVE the beach. Sigh. I haven’t been for about 6 years, but we used to go to San Diego and visit the beach there when we were younger. I really want to go to Hawaii someday and visit the beautiful beaches there! :)

  3. I love the beach. I would be a beach bum if I could. I love Rebecca’s description of a perfect day. I agree with every bit of it, except the meal at the end. I would want some declicious Chinese Food or a trip to The Cheescake Factory followed by cheesecake of course.

  4. I grew up in Southern California so we went to the beach often, but it was also cold and overcast sometimes. Probably my favorite beaches have been ones that have warmer water, either Hawaii or Brazil (my husband is from there).

  5. My favorite beach would probably be Waikiki, followed closely by the Isle of Palms in Charleston, SC. They are both very far away, though. I live near cold, rocky beaches which are beautiful, but not so inviting for swimming.

  6. We love the beach in La Jolla also. We haven’t been to San Diego in years though.

I follow Rebecca on Facebook and her blog. I’d love to have this book!!
