LDSWBR: What book or movie reminds you of summer?
JOSI: I didn’t read Harry Potter until book five came out, and then I read them in a week. It happened to be summer and I found it ironic that I was reading about his school year while my kids were out of school. I did the same thing with the Twilight series a few years later, then Hunger games. Apparently, summer is for series in my world.
LDSWBR: Do you hike during the summer? If so, where is your favorite place to hike?
JOSI: We have fabulous hiking trails here in Willard, we can walk out the back door and be in the mountains in about five minutes. Just this last year an elderly man in our town “built” a fabulous trail that weaves through trees for about 3/4 of a mile. I didn’t know anyone could “build” a hiking trail, but he’s done it and it’s amazing.
LDSWBR: What is the best book you’ve read so far this year?
JOSI: I don’t know that my favorite book has ever been non-fiction, but this year it is. I’ve been listening to “Daring Greatly” by Brenne Brown. I feel like some of it is over my head–I have a difficult time explaining the book–but I find myself “seeing” the concepts she’s talking about in my day to day life. It’s got me evaluating the way I interact with people and what my motives are. Fascinating perspectives that seem to be “following” me :-)
LDSWBR: I love Brene Brown! Thanks, Josi!

Sadie Hoffmiller has always liked things to be just so. A place for everything and everything in its place. Order over chaos. And of all things Sadie should be able to control, her own wedding is at the top of the list. With the big day just three weeks away, Sadie is busily adding the perfect final touches to her wedding plans. But the arrival of a mysterious letter that bears a San Francisco postmark and no return address could change everything. The only person Sadie knows in San Francisco is her older sister, Wendy, whom she hasn’t seen or heard from since their mother’s funeral nearly fifteen years ago. Sadie has faced off with murderers and crooks in recent years, yet the potential of her sister reentering her life is both overwhelming and frightening. But, as Sadie soon discovers, the letter is just the beginning. Wendy’s world turns out to be a place of unanswered questions, twisted truths, and more than one motive for murder.
Do you read series as each book is published or wait until all the books are out and binge read them all at once?

Sorry, the comment form is closed at this time.
I like the idea of waiting until all the books of a series are out, but that is not what usually happens for us. Most series we have read (Harry Potter, Hunger Games, Ranger’s Apprentice, etc.) the books as they are published and we just get really good at waiting. :) But there have been a few exceptions like Brandon Sanderson’s Mistborn series. Those had all been published before we read any of them. And of course, some of the older series out there, like Lord of the Rings and Little House on the Prairie.
I usually don’t start a series until many/all of the books are already out.
I’ve read two of Josi’s culinary mysteries and I’m a fan now, even though I’m not normally into murder mysteries.
It depends, sometimes I just cannot help reading the book before the whole series comes out and then basically end up memorizing the book until the next one comes out.
I’m reading this right now! It is so good. I am a new Josi Kilpack fan!
I have to wait… Especially if the books all have cliff hangers or similar endings. Sometimes it has taken me YEARS to start and finish a series and I would prefer to read them all at once!
I read them as they are being published, I can’t wait!
I usually read as they come out, but I am definitely obsessed with reading series books in order!
Ideally, I like to wait until they’re all out, but it doesn’t always happen that way. I’m not too patient though and wish that they would all come out at the same time! :o)
I generally read them all at once simply because I don’t usually read anything until I’ve heard it recommended from several trusted sources.
I read as books come out, unless I’m lucky enough to come across a series after it has all been released. Then I can binge like crazy and don’t have to wait a year or more in between books.
I like reading them together whenever possible.
It depends on when I discover the series – if I just I discover it when it’s coming out, then I’ll follow along (even though it may be hard to wait), but if I discover that’s already completely published, then I’ll read that as fast as possible. :)
I much prefer to read them altogether because I read so many books its sometimes hard to remember details by the time the next one comes out. However, sometimes books are just too good to wait!!
I read a series as it comes out. But there are times when I don’t find a series until book two is out and then it is fun to read the first two back to back!
