Abel is the author of the novel The Third and the memoir Room for Two and numerous short stories and poems. For nearly a decade he has worked as a professional copywriter and composed hundreds of print and online pieces of marketing collateral for technology, real estate, health care, and education organizations—including several Fortune 500 companies. LDSWBR: If you had an entire day to read (on the beach, at the lake, by the pool, etc.), what book(s) or genre would you reach for first?

ABEL: Anything by Lee Child, Robert Crais, or Michael Connelly.

LDSWBR: How would you describe the perfect summer day?

ABEL: A four mile run first thing in the morning followed by three hours of writing, spending the rest of the day with my wife and kids and two more hours of writing after they’re all asleep.
